So I recently made the long drive from Kenai to the middle of nowhere in Palmer to buy a 1983 Audi 5000 2.0 turbo diesel. It runs like a dream, odometer doesnt work but a guestimated 120,000 miles are on the car. swapped the stock intake with a 3inch cold air, and I am waiting on parts to do the exhaust. doing full 2inch exhaust with a 20inch mbrp resonator at the end. The horsepower and torque arent amazing but it seems to have potential. it still has the stock kkk26 turbo aswell. are there any other mods possible for this car to get higher horsepower/torque?

well damn....i bought the thing for the milage to begin with and im hoping i can stick with this motor and still be able to pull some power out of it. if not, then hell when i have the cash maybe ill find a swap for it. this is my first diesel thats why im so intrieged by it, and also why im hoping to stick with the motor. i was thinkin maybe larger injectors and some turbo work but im not sure as it stands, dont know enough about the damn thing yet.

Sweet car, those seem pretty to be pretty rare. What mileage are you getting and do you have any pics? For horsepower, the mods you mentioned would be the easiest for sure, once you start messing with the injectors you'll need some sort of tune to accommodate the increase in fuel. Not sure how that would work on those older engines.

as far as i can tell its right around 30mpg not bad at all. better than my damn truck! if i cant get much power out of it then ill prolly just use it for enconomy then when i have more cash find a 1.9l diesel vw. that could be fun. i do have a couple pics of the car on my myspace, cant seem to figure out how to load em. myspace.com/coltll45. they are in the "toys" album. its nothin extremely impressive but its what i got til i mix my flat black paint!

I really have no idea how many of these old audis are even in alaska, me and my buddy have been searching and we are thinking its prolly 1 out of 5 in the state that still run. really didnt know how rare it was to find these around. i was impressed the sucker still ran! thought we were going to be slaughtered in the middle of nowhere when we went to pick it up. wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy out into the bush of palmer. if anybody knows of others that own one of these hit me up. im curious what other people know about them that i dont. hardly anything even online!

Woo! Got my 20 inch mbrp resonator slapped in yesterday, its got some grunt to it now. It breathes MUCH better. I think the damn oem resonator weighed about 30lbs when we took it off. Had soooo much soot in it....nearly 30 years of buildup.

more power out of your car requires more fuel, more air( which you've done, short of head work), and more forced air. Awesome find :) water/meth injection too, you could always strip unnecessary items to drop some weight.

So was having trouble with the audi a month ago. It would start hard, and smoke REALLY bad. Didint even want to stay running. So i tore into the fuel system, turns out the injector nozzles and plungers were pretty much f*****. So, ordered new injector nozzles (comes with plungers), im hoping this is the issue. Ive cleaned the injectors in diesel purge from lubro molly. Just wanted to. Post this in case any of the folks on here have the old style mechanical diesel injection. Ill post results upon my completion of installing the new nozzles. Oh, btw the injector heat shields are being replaced aswell. Audi reccomends it.

ok so as for the injector nozzles, it tries to start better but still wont run. checked the oil.....10w-30 felt like 0w-20 fully synthetic......yay diesel in the oil.....so it looks like im going to do an oil change and go from there. also have to replace the rubber fuel lines that go from injector to injector.
